I want to run two nodes on the same server. They are connected to two different accounts. As soon as I try adding a new node, the screen shows stake buttons for both nodes. And the app says old node is now linked to the new account somehow

It looks like the we need to do a lot more than change validator key and port number to get the second node to work. I missed that. After getting the instruction from the post name “How to Host a Virtual Node”, the setup worked fine.

You are welcome. The reason for “changing the port, and validator key” not being enough is due to the situation being different.
The instructions are for two Node servers at the same IP address, you were trying to run two Nodes on one server. And you succeeded. Well done!
